The three candidates—Luo Lei, Cheng Cheng, and Xu Xiaofei—will each choose two assistants to help with their campaigns.

Class Monitor Candidates at Home (04:47)

Cheng Cheng's mother is a TV producer and his step-father is an engineer; he asks about democracy. Luo Lei's mother is a police officer and his father is the department director; he does not want his parent’s help with the election. Xu Xiaofei's mother is a school administrator; her daughter must work on communication skills

First Day of Talent Show (07:46)

Xu Xiaofei practices her speech and Cheng Cheng instructs a friend to heckle her. Xu Xiaofei cries in front of the class and Mrs. Zhang scolds the students who later apologize. Cheng Cheng's speech goes well.

Second Day of Talent Show (04:49)

Cheng Cheng leads the class in making fun of Luo Lei during his speech. Luo Lei asks other students who they will vote for; he wants to quit the election. Cheng Cheng promises positions on the class committee in exchange for votes.

Luo Lei's Campaign Trick (06:57)

Mrs. Zhang's grade 3 students ride the monorail courtesy of Luo Lei's father; he believes his classmates will now vote for him as class monitor. Cheng Cheng wants to drop out of the election. Xu Xiaofei's mom coaches her.

Xu Xiaofei and Cheng Cheng's Debate (04:41)

The candidates for class monitor identify each other's flaws in front of the class. Luo Lei and other students share their opinions. Cheng Cheng asks his classmates who they will vote for.

Night Before Second Debate (03:26)

Cheng Cheng makes a list of Luo Lei's faults. Cheng Cheng will emphasize that he will be a manager, not a dictator. The boys' parents help them prepare for their debate.

Cheng Cheng and Luo Lei's Debate (05:07)

Cheng Cheng says he will be a manager not a dictator. He asks his classmates to raise their hands if they have been beaten by Luo Lei.

Night Before Speeches (03:55)

Xu Xiaofei, Cheng Cheng, and Luo Lei practice speeches written by their parents.

Candidate Speeches and Election Results (06:59)

Xu Xiaofei, Cheng Cheng, and Luo Lei take turns speaking in front of the class in hopes of getting votes. Luo Lei hands out gifts. Luo Lei is elected class monitor.
