DUI: It’s a Crime

This hard-hitting docudrama shows the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol through the experiences of a young man who has been convicted of a DUI. Alcohol and the Law (20 min.) introduces Jack as a hardworking student and married family man who has a few beers at a party. While driving home, he has an accident, which causes injury to another driver. Jack is arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The Criminal Trial (29 min.) takes the viewer through the booking and bail bonding procedures, meeting with an attorney, and the criminal trial. Jack is caught in an intricate legal process. Criminal Appeal & Civil Trial (30 min.) shows Jack’s unsuccessful appeal followed by a civil lawsuit filed by the injured party. Serving Time (31 min.) depicts Jack’s dehumanizing experience during four months in a county jail. He is counseled on the restrictions he must endure in a further two-year probationary sentence.
